I love what I do. Period! A fact, I believe, has always given me an edge in my career. I started out, like most passionate hairstylists, on my barbie. Then friends, family and so on. By my senior year of high school I had a pretty serious following, mostly people I knew personally, so I never took it too serious. Something I was good at and able to make a little extra doing. I was just a crafty, creative soul, so makeup came easy as well. I hadn't necessarily decided what I wanted to do for a living at this point. I planned, like most of my friends, to go to a state university and figure it out as I go. Though, the idea never truly excited me. I wanted more.
I went looking for a job one day after school and stopped at a small jewelry boutique, that wasn't hiring, but just so happened to be connected to a huge hair salon, that was. Being my own stylist for so many years, I'd never stepped foot in a salon. Let alone work in one, but I figured how hard could it be?! I took the job and I am so glad I did.
I attended Paul Mitchell the School the following summer, and never looked back. I worked in my hometown Orlando for about 7 years before I decided to pick up and move to New York. Something I have always wanted to do. Forever I considered Manhattan the mecca of all things great within the hair industry. Movies, TV, Fashion Week, and Broadway all happen here. I had to be a part of that. I have been fortunate enough to make a lot of those dreams come true and worked with so many amazing stylists along the way. I am so thankful for every experience and every opportunity, every obstacle, setback and misfortune, because each one shaped the stylist I am today.
